I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE MY FELLOW ROUGH CUT LAB ALUMNI WHO WILL BE JOINING US AT THE SXSW FILM FESTIVAL FOR OUR WORLD PREMIERS. THE MARCONI BROS. AND RAINBOW IN THE SUN. WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT HAVING OUR PREMIER AT THIS FILM FESTIVAL WHICH WE ARE EAGERLY MAKING PLANS FOR. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING OUR POSTERS AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS AS WELL AS PLANNING OUR PARTIES. THE OLDER THAN AMERICA PREMIER WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY MARCH 10TH AT THE PARAMOUNT THEATER. OUR PREMIER PARTY WILL BE HELD AT THE PRAGUE LOUNGE WITH DJ CRYSTLE LIGHTNING ENTERTAINING US. I HOPE YOU ALL CAN MAKE IT.

A great thing about the rough cut labs, we got to meet a lot of great people and learn from some of the best in the industry. Networking for future support was a vital part of the lab. I got a call this morning from our editor Clayton Condit . Clayton came with us for the lab and was just hired to help the The Marconi Bros filmmakers Marco and Micheal finish there film for the SXSW film festival. That’s so cool they are here in Minnisota finishing up there film. Here’s an example of how the wheels go around, they mentioned to Clayton they need a shot of a moon. Well we happen to have some great shots of the moon for our film Older Than America, so Clayton called me asking if they could use one of our moon shots. Absolutely, anything we can do to help our fellow filmmakers. It makes me feel good to be able to help them out with that and i can’t wait to see there finished film at the festival along with Rainbow in the Sun.

Again Congratulations to my fellow filmmakers.

Hello, I just caught your interview on the Sunday morning news, nice job. I wish I could get away from work to take in your SXSW premiere March 10 here in Austin.

This subject-matter has affected my life tremendously being a desendant of the residential school system. My late Mother ‘attended’ {a light word for it} for seven years along with her Brothers and Sisters. I am of Cree descent out of the Duck Lake area in Saskachewan, and grew up in Alberta.

I have lived here in the US for about 7 years now and in Austin for a year. I know of the silent pain of our parents/grand-parents. I and many others have struggled with many of the past-on Demons of our Elders.

Best of luck with your journey and thank you for making the rest of the world more aware of the travisties of this time in our history.

There are scars you see and those you don’t but they all should be hourned and learned from not overwhelmed by.

Geogina you have obviously made your own path and should be very proud of your accomplishments - personally and professionally,

Have a Great year and the very best with future endevours,

A-A

I was able to attend the showing of Older Than American in Cloquet on April 3. It was very well made - I hope others in this area will be able to see it on the big screen or on DVD.

Georgina,

Congratulations on your movie “Older than America”.

I read the article in Indian Country today and now someone just sent me the trailer.

Wow! This movie looks so, so good! I’m looking forward to seeing it.

I’m so proud of you.

God Bless,

Angel Sobotta
