Dope Score
I’m surprised Dean waited around so long ringing the doorbell outside. By the time I got out of the bathroom he was still there waiting patiently. I always feel they look at me a little funny when I first come out. But that’s just guilt.
I made some coffee and we got to work. I hate to mix stimulants, but coffee is a great cover. All the squares drink it.
We sat at the AVID and I watched Jeff and Dean work on the music editing. Dean mentioned Wong Kar-Wei’s film IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and how it uses the exact same theme over and over. The theme resonates differently each time due to the changing context of the story. So they are playing with a similar effect in BOPPIN’ AT THE GLUE FACTORY – how new images highlight a different emotional read of the same music.
Putting the music in inspired them to make some edits. It’s like the tone of the music does some cool things which are being diluted or fought by other elements in the film. So the cut and the music are talking to each other better by removing or shifting these things around.
Ooops! Midnight. Got to go.
